Get To Know Your Neighbors and Your Neighborhood Organizations

The 5th Council District is 11.47 square miles in area -- making it the largest council district in the City of Long Beach. Within this council district are several neighborhood organizations that work tirelessly to maintain and improve the quality of their neighborhoods.

The 5th District Good Neighbor Network

Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske is working diligently to support and expand the neighborhood organizations in our area by joining them together in a 5th District Good Neighbor Network.

This network provides the opportunity for neighborhood organizations to share information and to work together with Councilwoman Schipske to ensure that our neighborhoods are represented in City government decisions.

Additionally, Councilwoman Schipske is helping those neighborhoods that want to establish a neighborhood organization connect with the tools and the support the City of Long Beach offers through its Neighborhood Services Office.

Neighborhoods that want to focus on public safety can form a Neighborhood Watch and/or become qualified as members of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to help us prepare in the case of an emergency.

Your Organization Can Be a Part of the
5th District Good Neighbor Network

Representatives from each neighborhood organization will meet monthly with Councilwoman Schipske to discuss issues of concern. Together, the 5th District Good Neighbor Network can make a difference because the quality of our neighborhoods do matter!
